Red Box Rocks!

Anna called me three weeks ago and wanted to go to Red Box. I couldn't go that time since I had to go somewhere else... So we rescheduled and one Saturday evening, we found ourselves there. Thanks to Anton for accommodating us and giving us discount. Hehe. =) I swear, Red Box rocks! They have more song selections and the food tastes good too.

Here are some pix from that night:

The Complete Davao Experience

I wasn't supposed to go to Davao. But at the last minute, I found myself on my way to the airport to meet up with Gina and Mabel. Traffic sucked, which was a great surprise since it was a Sunday morning. After taking several detours, I finally made it to the airport in time. Our flight was delayed a couple of minutes, so we had time for some breakfast.

Errr... looks like Gina ain't happy with her food. Hehe

As I had no sleep the night before, I slept during the whole flight. I think I was asleep the moment the plane took off. The next thing I know, we have already landed in Davao. I called Johann who has been waiting at the Davao airport for over an hour (poor kid!) and told him we've already arrived.

I couldn't wait to get off the plane since I haven't seen Johann in ages. I sure missed him a lot.

Anyways, we went straight to Apo View. Since it was the Kadayawan Festival and the place was packed, we couldn't check in yet. So we went for lunch. Afterwards, we went on a radio tour and visited some stores (sponsors) where I met a new friend... =)

Barbie wanted to check out some slippers for her friend. Apparently, there's this slippers brand called Beach Front, which is as comfortable and durable as Havaianas but cost for much much less. And they're only sold in Davao daw. We weren't actually successful in our search so we decided to go back to the hotel to get some rest and to get ready for the show.

Johann on-stage

In fairness to Johann, girls went wild the moment he went on-stage. They wouldn't stop screaming. Woo hoo! Hehe.

Funny side story: I was assisting Johann while he was signing some autographs when one girl came up to me and asked:

Girl: Ate, kapatid ka po ni Johann?
Me: Err... no...
Girl: Ay... akala ko...
Me: Baket? Magkamuka ba kami?
Girl: Mejo po

Haha.

Anyways, we went back to the hotel during the middle of Barbie's set since it was drizzling. We just fooled around in the room, while waiting for the organizer's call about dinner. Mabel took my phone and took some pictures...

...of herself. Right. Haha.

At around 1am, we went to dinner at Colasa's (the original Colasa's in Davao) and "attacked"...

After dinner, we took some more pics...

The next day, I felt sad about going back to Manila. Life was so much (A LOT!) better in Davao. Johann left before us since he was going back to Cebu. Two hours later, Gina, Mabel & I got ready to go back home. Our flight was delayed an hour so we loitered and shopped in the airport, and of course took some pics:

V.I.P. ako!

I wasn't supposed to attend the MTV Pilipinas Awards 2005. I didn't feel like it so I gave up my ticket. But then...

Darwin short of dragged me into going with him... so I did.

I arrived early at the venue with Ate Gina and Espie. Ate Gina's ticket gave her red carpet privilege. But she didn't want to walk the red carpet what with all the cameras milling about. I didn't know where I was supposed to sit since Darwin wasn't there yet when I arrived. Anyways, since Ate Gina and I were both starving to death, we decided to eat before going on. Besides, I was still waiting for Darwin.

LT (Darwin's staff) called me and said Darwin will be late. She says she has my ticket and so we met up so she could give it to me.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Lo and behold! My ticket said Patron. Woohoo!!! Hehehe. It was really funny coz all the while I was whining and moping about being seated farther than Ate Gina and her friends. Yun pala, mas malapit pa ko sa kanila. Haha.

So there.

I didn't realize how near the stage my seat was until I got inside...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Tada! Kewl. :o)

I looked around and saw that Parokya ni Edgar had reserved seats behind me. So did Cueshue (not that I care...) and Juan Pablo Dream. To my right was Rivermaya, Kwjan and Hale. Kewlies!

Darwin loves me. Hehe.

Anyways, I saw Buddy (Zabala) and just had to go over his side and say hi. He hasn't changed a bit, well, except maybe he lost weight but as far as personality is concerned, he's the same old Buddy I knew more than nine years ago. He pointed Earnest (his wife) to me and I went over to her to say hi. Like Buddy, she lost a lot of weight too! Sana ako din hehe.

I was walking around saying hi to some other people like Marc (Abaya), Sammy, Jet, Beng... when Chito (of Sony-BMG) SMS'd me:

Chito: Kita kita
Me: Ha? Pano? San ka?
Chito: Dito kami sa taas e

As it turned out, all record label and industry people were seated either at the Lower or Upper Boxes.

Ooohhh... Darwin loves me.

Hahahaha!

Best New Artist went to... whoelse?

HALE! As if it wasn't obvious... haha

Rivermaya won two awards... one for Best Group and the other for Best Song ("You'll Be Safe Here"):

Marc Abaya presented the award for Best Commercial Video, which went to Bamboo. Unfortunately, Bamboo wasn't there to accept their award. So I just took a pic of Marc with Cindy Kurleto. Hehe.

Oh and I just couldn't resist the urge to take a pic of FrancisM, who presented the Best Director Award alongside Peque Gallaga.

Hale performed with Cueshe... Naturally, I just took a pic of Champ. Wehehe.

Thanks to Darwin, I actually had fun and enjoyed my evening. Maybe if I hadn't gone with him, I would have ended up "lost"... like the night before.

Agent for a Day

It took me a while to blog about this but I actually spent last weekend like I was a character in a Dan Brown novel. Or maybe John Grisham?

I'd rather not go into details lest I get myself into trouble.

But it was a fun experience. Weird and scary but fun.

I wonder when the next "session" is... Hmm... Hehe.

The Davao Experience

I was in Davao last Sunday. It was fun. Life was so much better there than here in Manila. I would've wanted to stay there forever. But then again, as if that's possible. Oh well...

Anyways, I'm pressed for time right now so maybe I'll just post about my Davao experience next time.

Till next!

i'm friends with someone famous!!!

my good friend kuya arnold (jallores, sr.) was on the news last week.

yippee!

hehe. yeah, i work with celebrities everyday. and i have worked with them for the past 9 years. but nothing beats being good friends with someone who actually made it to national news! someone who is part of philippine history! woo hoo!

anyways, it was about this garci tapes... i couldn't really care less about the issue... i have been apolitical ever since i can remember. but since kuya arnold (who is as apolitical as i am) was one of the local sound engineers contracted by denr secretary mike defensor to analyze the so-called recordings, i kinda became involved. hehe.

well... much of my involvement really was just to tag along during their first meeting, make kuya arnold kulit through text during the press conference at sulo hotel (which was his first tv appearance) and then tag along again during his second tv appearance that same night at korina's show on anc.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Tee hee... that's Kuya Arnold getting made up before his live TV appearance on ANC

i didn't plan on staying since i needed to get my stuff from upstairs, but the discussion proved to be somewhat interesting and so i stayed put. and err... took pictures hehe

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

judging from the photos, you will notice that i never actually moved from my position. hehe. well, i kinda got scared of korina since a few minutes into the program, she was ired like hell at her staff and even threatened to walk out. *gulp*

anyways, the discussion turned into a heated argument when jonathan tiongco (the guy in between kuya arnold and mike defensor in the photo) and jose mari gonzales debated like crazy about the tapes and forensics and stuff my puny little brain couldn't really understand (and care about). mike defensor kept on nudging jonathan tiongco to stop but the stubborn bastard wouldn't... all this time, kuya arnold was just quiet and smiling like a little boy as if he found everything amusing.

afterwards, as i was joshing kuya arnold about making it to national news (and maybe even cnn and bbc! hehe), all he asked me was if he looked great on tv. haha! yeah... he was essentially now part of philippine history and all he could care about was how he looked. kewlness!

My ate made me cry last night.

When we were kids, I've always been the "protector". When there were bullies in school (yeah, there were bullies even in exclusive girls' schools), I was the one who fought with them. Even though I was younger and smaller than most of them, I stood up against them to "defend" my sister (or anyone they were bullying for that matter). I once had a shouting match with a busmate who was four years older because she was pestering my sister. And I was only nine years old.

Then there was a time I got physical... errr... pushed this bratty kid from the top of the stairs because she scratched my sister. It was a mean thing to do yeah, but she deserved it for hurting my ate.

But last night, the tables were turned.

Because last night, I told her. Told her everything.

I told her how I hate my life -- what I do, where I am. I told her how I hate the people around me. I told her about him and how messed up I've become ever since. I told her about how, after all this time, I've only been pretending... and that I'm tired of pretending.

Feeling lost and like a little girl, I sought solace and comfort from my older sister. She just listened quietly then told me: "Something's not right here. You've always been the strong one."

That started me crying. I bawled my eyes out until I felt I couldn't cry anymore (though I found out a few hours later that I can still cry some more).

I have to admit that I felt a bit better after talking to her. I haven't solved anything but somehow, the burden (sort of) eased a little.

Tomorrow, I'm talking to my dad.

Drive away and try to keep smiling. Get a little rock and roll on the radio and go toward all the life there is with all the courage you can find and all the belief you can muster. Be true, be brave, stand. All the rest is darkness. -Stephen King

he says...

...i'm a good listener
...i learn fast
...i don't look my age (to which i asked, "you mean i look older?" and he replied with a smile, "nah... you look a lot younger")
...i remind him of his best friend
...he'll see me around

hmmm... talk about the best motivation ever! haha.

Tuesday, August 2

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Tee hee.

As you can see from the photo collage (errr... I ain't an artist so pardon me if the layout is kinda sloppy... hehe), I had quite an interesting weekend. Weng picked me up after lunch and then we picked up Anna to go play badminton. Since I haven't played ever (not counting the times when I played street badminton as a kid), I was the self-proclaimed "pulot girl". Haha. After about half an hour into the game, I kinda got the hang of it and realized that it was a lot of fun. The three of us decided we should do it more often. Weng kept on pestering me that I should buy my own racket. Bahala na. The cheapskate in me prevents me from doing so.

We originally planned a kikay weekend for us three ladies. But after the game, we were quite pooped and hung out at Anna's pad for a while. Then we decided to go to the mall and... well... shop! :-) Good thing the Ayala malls were having a midnight sale of sorts and we ended up doing, as Sam would say, a decathlon. Hehe. As usual, the "winner" of the night in shopping was Weng. I forget how many shopping bags she brought home. I just got a pair of kikay shoes (err... yeah, I'm in a kikay mood lately) and a game. Was supposed to buy a pair of jeans and some shirts but decided against it. I just bought a couple a few weeks back. Maybe next week. Hehe. That is, if I still have enough moolah left.

Anna was supposed to have her eyeglasses fixed and ended up buying a new pair:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Around 10pm, we were famished and had a sumptuous dinner at Italianni's. Yum!

With about an hour more to spare, Weng -- ever the shopaholic -- led us to more shops. Our last stop was supposed to be Powerbooks but when we got there, they were already closed. Boo hoo. Weng and I planned to go back the next day. Hehe. Mga adik!

Since none of us didn't want to go home yet, we went for coffee at Starbucks in errr... some street in Makati. Hehe. I dunno where exactly e. I have a poor sense in direction. Anyways, we bumped into an old friend from UP there -- Mark Galutera. He hasn't changed a bit... well, except that he put on a lot of weight (who hasn't?). But he's still the same jolly person he was in college.

Around 2am, we decided to go on home since the next day would be another shopping day. Hehe. Of course, my day wouldn't be complete without...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

...playing Pokemon! Hehe.

So there.

Ain't life grand? Well most of the time it isn't but who the f*** really cares?... as long as you have friends like the ones I got. :-)
