Lovely Day

I had a relatively "boring day" today. Which is pretty uncanny, since boring hasn't been part of my vocabulary since I re-entered the wild and unglamorous world of show business.

But I relished my day today. There was a moment or two when I was ngarag, but mostly today was laid-back... just the way I liked it. Hehe.

Had a quick trip to the airport this morning at 5am, where I grabbed a quick nap (don't ask why), went home at 8am and was at work by 9am. By 8pm, I will be on my way to QC and most probably be back in Ortigas around 11pm tonight, where I'll enjoy a nice hot bath (and probably a massage) at the Holiday Inn Galleria Manila, where I'm billetted until the weekend.

Lovely!

Rest In Peace

Nathan's mom passed away Monday. :(

I was at the premiere of Manay Po and in the middle of all the kangaragan, I received a text message bearing the sad, sad news. Right after the premiere night, I found myself rushing to Philamhomes to pay my respects and to offer my condolences to Nathan and his family.

Going back there tonight as it's the last night of the wake.

Rest in peace Mommy. You will be missed.

The Return of Brokeback Mountain

The first time I posted this, I did it out of fun. I thought it was funny and I thought everyone could use a laugh.

No, it wasn't out of spite.

Not then.

But now it is.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I didn't think hate that's been gone can resurface. Nor did I think that hate can turn to even more hate. This thing with you and (insert name of one of my most hated people here) is the last straw. If you're doing it to spite me, bravo! You're doing an excellent job. Any hope of repairing what we lost is gone now. This is really it. The final blow. I am walking away. You don't deserve to be friends with me. You don't deserve me.

Shameless Plug

While we're on the subject of "brokebackers" and all things gay, patronize me as I plug our new movie MANAY PO showing on May 31. We have a premiere night on Monday, May 29. Everyone is invited to come and watch. Of course you need a ticket to enter the theater hehe but we'll be giving away tickets that same night, so you may be lucky enough to score a pair for yourself and whoever is with you.

Anyhoo... it's the happiest and gayest film of the year! Enjoy!

Search for the Holy Grail

Finally!

Was able to grab tickets to the Da Vinci Code and watched at 1.20 am Sunday morning at Greenbelt 3 Cinema 2.

Prior to watching the movie, I received a few warnings from some people about how bad disappointing it is. I was even advised to drink several cups of coffee before watching. I did drink several cups of coffee prior to the screening, not because I heeded the warning, but because I came from a very long meeting. And as y'all know, long meetings are synonymous to several cups of coffee. But I digress.

Although the movie is long (2 1/2 hours) and as they say in cinema-speak "madaldal", I relished every minute of it. A friend of mine who didn't read the book also liked it, as opposed to what most people have been saying. I heard someone say that the film is confusing... I think not. Just like the book, it was something I just couldn't stop errr... watching.

Save for the ending, the movie was more or less faithful to Dan Brown's novel. Of course there were some lines / treatments that were added for cinematic purposes but overall, it's exactly like the book. And that's the way I like it. =)

I know I said before that Tom Hanks doesn't fit the role (don't get me wrong... I love Tom Hanks! it's just that I didn't think he was right for Robert Langdon) but somehow, it worked! Goes to show how versatile he is.

And ooohhhh... Can I just say I loooovvvveeee Paul Bettany! =) :::::swoon:::::

Unable to Break the Code

Crappy.

Tried to watch the Da Vinci Code yesterday but was unsuccessful. How is it possible that four cinemas in Greenbelt 3 can be full until the 1:45 am screening? And seven cinemas in Gateway? And four in Eastwood?

My gawd!

It seemes like everyone in Metro Manila had the same idea yesterday. Damn. What makes it worse is the fact that last night was my only free time / chance to watch it. Grrrr.

Oh well...

I hope I find time tonight.

When It Rains, It Pours

It's true what they say...

When the heavens decide to shower you with blessings, it's like one big thunderstorm.

Unfortunately, it works the other way around too.

I'm having a really crappy month. Dammit.

The Search for the Next April Boy Regino First Philippine Idol

Hahahaha.

But it's true... Doesn't the title Philippine Idol belong to April Boy Regino? I will not be surprised if one of these days, he'll come out on TV and cry foul because someone else is trying to take away his title. Remember the Sheryn Regis and Mari Nallos fiasco all because of the title Crystal Voice of Asia?

Losers.

Anyhoo---I was at Megamall yesterday for a meeting and we (Diego and I) chanced upon the auditions for Philippine Idol. We didn't exactly stay to watch but what we saw was enough to make us leave. I mean, c'mon! If you knew you didn't have talent, would you even dare to come to an audition? I wonder whether it's really all about guts for these losers. Or maybe because they've seen how Americans do it on American Idol for a minute of fame and at the risk of major humiliation, if I may add. Gaya-gaya na naman. How very Noypi!

I don't even watch that part of AI anymore. I find no novelty in it at all. Heck, we've been seeing the same thing for five seasons. Nothing new. And now, we have Philippine Idol. Do you honestly think there will be something new here?

But that's just me.

On second thought, yeah, let's all go watch Philippine Idol and the programs before and after it. That will make ABC-5 number 1 thereby ending the senseless network war. But then again, that's another story.

Happy Birthday

Yesterday, three special people celebrated their birthdays.

01. Sam

02. Mario

-and-

03. Dennis Trillo

Since Sam didn't have any plans, and Mario was out-of-town, I opted to attend Dennis' birthday bash at Zirkoh in Timog. Had a blast!

Here are some clips from his birthday party:

Brokeback Mountain

...Since I'm naturally a nice person (as opposed to what most of you think), I opted to listen and so I took down the controversial photo.

So there.

Happy now?

It Started Over Coffee

Speaking of coffee... just like in the song, Weng and Sam's love story started over coffee. At Starbucks Herrera to be exact. Hehe.

Theirs is a love story that validates the infamous line "there's a reaon for everything". Ever since college, Weng has been the subject victim of matchmaking (mostly mine). And everytime, she would eventually fall for the guy I've matchmade her with. Gawd, was I good at that (and bad too for fooling around with people's feelings)! Hehe. Oh well...

Anyhoo---there was this certain person whom I perenially teased to her (even after grad), and I strongly believe that this person led her to Sam. See, we lost touch with this guy but one crazy night, Anna and I just figured we'd track him and so we did. I even pretended to be someone else just to get his number (yeah, I can be a stalker sometimes). A couple of months later, we met Sam through him. So yeah, there's a reason for everything. We wouldn't have met Sam if not for this guy.

So there. After being together for almost six years, Weng and Sam has finally tied the knot on April 22 at the Shrine of Jesus. Sadly, Anna and Ricio weren't there to witness their union but hey, I know they were there in spirit!

Here's the bride the night before the wedding:

Taken at Figaro at the back of Hyatt. Hehe. Shempre pa, we had to have to coffee pa din the night before her wedding. Keeping with the tradition kumbaga.

And here's the wedding dress:

Ayuz ba?

In between watching Lost, playing Zuma and Bookworm, I ripped and burned dozens of CDs for use during the reception the next day. At around 2 am, I decided to call it a day and tried to sleep. Fortunately, I found it easy to sleep. Maybe because I was tired and wasn't exactly feeling well that night. Unfortunately for Weng, since she had a hard time sleeping. Awwww. Excited kse! Hehe.

Morning passed by like a blur. We had breakfast, watched TV, prepared the CDs and other stuff. Soon after, it was time to get ready. Grazie was first to go for makeup. Then me...

I have never seen this much makeup in my life:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

That's me (obviously) and the makeup artist whose name I forgot.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Forgot to take a photo of the guy who made my hair, mostly because I was just too happy to see my hair straight. Hehe.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Nathan came at around 4pm.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

He was day coordinator and was in charge of the reception. We hung around at the groom's room since the bride's room was full of people what with the photographer, videographer, designer's assistant and makeup people hanging around there.

A little before 5pm, it was time to get dressed.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Then I went back to Weng's room to take photos of her getting ready.

At 6pm, Sam, Dong, Laura, Grazie and I went ahead to the church. While there, I busied myself assisting the coordinator. Wanted to take photos but figured it was better not to since the ceremony would be starting in a couple of minutes. Besides, I had to let Mikko hold on to my phone since I didn't have a bag and it was quite of the question for me to hold on to it together with my bouquet.

So anyways, I couldn't quite concentrate at the church because (1)Weng's nieces who were flower girls (Ira and Kiana) were beside me and I had to play babysitter and (2)I was uncomfortable with my shoes. I was glad when we had to leave the church for the reception back at the hotel. When we got there, I ran upstairs and changed into my trusty white Havaianas =) Hehe.

No one seemed to notice that I was wearing slippers at the ballroom since my gown was really long. But I had to use Grazie's shoes when I was called for my speech at the center of the ballroom. I had a lot of things in my mind that I wanted to tell Weng and Sam while I was walking towards the podium. But when I got there, I just couldn't say all of them without crying so lest I start bawling my eyes out in front of their 200 guests, I cut my speech short and just wished them the best. Hehe.

Later on, I busied myself with taking more pictures.

Back Again

There was a time when I used to blog everyday. Heck, there were times I used to blog more than twice a day. n But I can't seem to do that now, what with everything happening all at the same time. During periods when I find myself with nothing to do, I normally just sleep or laze around these days. I'm sooo tired I can't seem to feel rested even if I sleep for one whole day.

Anyhoo--I'm back again and as promised, I am posting about the "wedding of the century" (hehe). Took me a while, I know.

But before I do that, let me just show you the finest hotel room I've stayed in here in Manila. (The best hotel for me is still in Sheraton Imperial at KL. Felt like a princess when I stayed there. =) )

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Just look at the size of that bed! That's in the new Hyatt hotel, where we stayed the night before Sam and Weng's wedding (and the day after). But my favorite fixture in the room was this:

And this:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yes, folks! There's a DVD player in the room. And ooohhh... there wasn't just one!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

One was in the living room and the other in the bedroom. Too bad we weren't able to bring DVDs, nor had the time to actually just laze around and watch whatever on the flat screen TV. Sigh.

The rest of the room looked like this...

Too bad their broadband internet access wasn't free. And they wouldn't waive it!!! Hmph. Buti pa sa Crowne Plaza!

Anyways, here are more pics:

So there.

In a little while, I'll be posting pics and (per Anna's request) a blow-by-blow account of the "wedding of the century"! Wehehehe. In the meantime, let me just grab myself a venti latte from Starbucks. ;-)
