Busy Bum

For someone who's not working, I have been pretty busy. I have found myself running around Metro Manila for the past couple of weeks -- not exclusively due to job-hunting. As a matter of fact, less than half of my time right now has been dedicated to finding a job. Not because I don't need it, because I do... my meager resources have started to get depleted. It's just that I haven't found the right one yet. I do have options waiting in the wings but I'm not sure if any will push through just yet. So for the meantime, I'm running around and busying myself with... erm... other things. Hehe.

I will be posting my longest post ever in a little while. Was supposed to write about it now but somehow, the mood just isn't right. And I have to be in the mood to write about it all, especially since some of the stories have taken place ages ago. Haha. Well not really ages ago, but more like two or three weeks back.

So there.

Things you tend to hear when you're running around the Metro with no worries whatsoever (read: you have a clear head that's ready for eavesdropping hehe):

#1 - Overheard while lined up at an ATM in Ortigas:

Girl to her boyfriend (sounding really agitated): Dalian natin umuwi!
Boyfriend (sounding annoyed): Baket?
Girl: Manonood ako ng Pinoy Big Brother. Na-miss ko na nga kagabi e.

Jeez. If I was the guy, I probably would've ran and left her there without looking back. She wants to go home early to watch Pinoy Big Brother than spend time with her significant other?!?! Oh brother! (Pun intended) Hahaha.

#2 - Overheard while waiting for a friend to pick me up along Emerald Ave:

Guy: Sa December 19 daw yung Christmas party ng tropa.
Girl: Sasama mo ba ko?
Guy: Ayaw mo ba? (for some reason, the guy sounded hopeful that she would say yes, ayaw niya)
Girl: Shempre gusto ko (uh-oh haha). Pero aaminin mo na ba sa kanila? (obviously refering to the guy's mates)
Guy: Na alin?

***At this point, I wanted to whack the girl on the head for hooking up with the guy who obviously doesn't care enough for her. And I wanted to whack the guy on the head and kick his balls for being such an asshole***

Girl: Na tayo?
Guy: Alam na nila yun. Lagi naman tayo magkasama e

DUH!!! Good thing my friend drove up that instance or else I would have probably kicked that guy in the balls. What a major asshole!

#3 - Overheard while in Starbucks

Guy 1: Pare, why did you leave (insert call center name here)?
Guy 2: Pare, bad trip. The most humiliating thing happened to me.
Guy 1: Why pare, what happened?
Guy 2: There was this girl there that I liked but I didn't know she had a boyfriend. Pero pare, she came on to me. How was I to resist? One time we fooled around and one thing led to another and then we <*beep*> (Seriously, he said the f word out loud in broad daylight. Sheesh.)
Guy 1: Grabe man! And then?
Guy 2: The next day my supervisor asked me why I was absent. I said I wasn't feeling well. Pucha pare, turned out he was that girl's boyfriend!
Guy 1: **lets out a stream of invectives not fit to post**
Guy 2: I know! It was really humiliating. I just had to leave.

It took a lot of effort on my part to zone them out. I found his story really sick, you see. Although I gotta admit, it was kinda hilarious too. I actually almost choked on my green tea.

So there.

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!

Don't you just hate it when you're writing something you feel passionately about and you've actually written loads already and the stupid computer bogs down? Like, it shuts down on its own without you doing anything to it?

***FUMING MAD***

Bleh.

That was one of the longest blog posts I've ever done!

Now I have to start all over again. I don't think I will ever be able to write it the way I did a while back.

Oh crap.

Maybe I'll do it some other time.

November 16 is THE day!!!

I cannot wait for tomorrow.

I'm watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire tomorrow.

Weeeeeee!

I so cannot wait!

I am repeating myself again, am I not?

Hahaha.

Oh and of course, after the movie, I'll work out to kill time and then meet up with Mario and probably Chito to go the album launch of 6cyclemind at Mugen Bar in Metrowalk. Woo hoo! I hope Darwin (or maybe Vic V) will remember to bring me a free CD. Hehehe.

Ooohh... I absolutely cannot wait for tomorrow!!!

Last Goodbye

I officially say goodbye to everyone today. By tomorrow, a whole new chapter of my life will begin. And though I am feeling quite elated about the whole thing, I also am feeling sad. There are quite a few people that I am definitely going to miss.

But life's like that, I guess. Some things just have to end in order for new things to begin.

So yeah... this is finally it. I'm officially gone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
ANNAGAR!!!
{{{{{{{{big big hug}}}}}}}}}

Last Saturday, we celebrated Annagar's birthday at the rooftop of Westgate Plaza in Makati. It's her last birthday here in Manila and we all had a blast. (She's leaving for the US for good in December ***sob***).

For a change, neither Sir Chris nor Weng got wasted. Instead, we all drank responsibly. Hehe. I'll probably post some of the pics tomorrow... Forgot to upload the photos and I'm still waiting for Anna and Gisela to email most of the other pics to me.

Anyways, it was really, really fun. Had super laugh trip talking about Nathan's "nips", playing voyeur, and we even had a trip down memory lane thanks to Vernon's IPod playlist.

Even Freddie (Anna's bunny) joined us at the party.

So there.

Cheers to you, Annagar! Have a happy happy birthday! :-)

Let the Gaming Begin

Cleaned up one area of my room (yeah... I need to find time to clean the rest of it sometime) and unearthed one of my favorite GBA games -- Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I like 2 better than 1. It's more dramatic and has a much better plot. Although... ***SPOILERS AHEAD*** it's much more depressing because everybody dies. Bleh. Well not everybody... but most of the characters do and it's just so sad. =(

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The first time I played this game a year or so ago, I wasn't in the right frame of mind (read: I was depressed like hell). And so, even though gaming should actually make you forget your real woes, playing this game made me sadder by the minute.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Now that I'm stress-free and all, I decided to try and re-play the game. Although I already know what will happen in the end, I have sort of forgotten where to go and what to do so it's kewl playing it again. I even got shocked when one of the key characters died... I totally forgot that part. Hehe. Anyways, I'm almost done with the game now (after playing it non-stop for two consecutive days). I just had to stop because 1)my fingers hurt already and 2)My Gameboy's battery has run out and I forgot to bring my charger with me. Wehehe.

Rainbow Brite

Having too much time on my hands leads to boredom. And when I'm bored, I tend to do crazy stuff. The other day, my boredom led me to do something really crazy with my hair.

Ever since I was old enough to decide what to do with my hair, I've experimented with it (much to the disdain of my mom). I've had it bleached, shaved off, grew it really long and then cut really short again and again.

Anyways, this time, I figured I wanted to sport the Delirium*** look.

Kewl, eh?

Haha!

Blast from the Past

With Anna's impending migration to the US, our group has made it a point to make the most of her remaining time here. And so in the span of a week, we got together three times and hung out with her at her pad. Duringour most recent get-together, we were able to convince her to drive all the way to Ortigas (yey!), where we all went to Tiendesitas.

Tiendesitas is this new shopping place that's like a cross between Greenhills and Market! Market!. They have everything from clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, crafts, furnitures and even pets. I had to literally restrain myself from buying stuff lest I find myself with absolutely no money left for anything else. Though I ended up buying something... Nothing fancy, really. Just a cute little toering that Anna picked out for me.

Anyways, while waiting for Sir Chris and Nathan to arrive, Anna, Weng, Sam, Mona, Allen and I window-shopped in pairs. Mikko had to leave soon after dinner since he had some editing to do at home. A little after midnight, we all sat at the food court thing and were treated to the music of The Dawn. Yep, Jet, Kiko, JB and this other guy (sorry I forgot the new bassist's name) played an unannounced set that night. Which is real kewl if you ask me since there were no jologs to disrupt the evening's entertainment. For an unannounced gig, the place was still packed. It isn't surprising though since Tiendesitas was already packed with shoppers from the get-go.

It was fun listening to The Dawn's repertoire. All of us grew up listening to their music. Anna and Allen were screaming like crazy. Both of them (and errr... myself included) were shouting at the top of our lungs for the group to sing "Enveloped Ideas". After around eight songs later, they still haven't sung it. Even though we were having a blast listening to them, we decided it was time to go since Nathan was itching to go for coffee already. We were on our way to the parking when I heard a bass line that sounded like "Enveloped Ideas" and I told Anna and Allen what I thought I heard. Both stopped walking and listened then The Dawn indeed started playing the song. Like mad people, Anna and Allen ran screaming all the way back to the stage area. I, of course, had no choice but to run back. By then, Sam, Weng, Sir Chris and Nathan were halfway to the parking and we didn't see them anymore until we got to Metrowalk. Haha.

All in all, it was a fun night. We ended up staying at Starbucks till 3am.

I am surely gonna miss Anna when she's gone. But hey, maybe we'll be together again sooner than I think... that is, if everything goes as planned. =)

Dark and Difficult Times Lie Ahead

Sure sounds like the story of my life. But no, it's the tag-line for the latest Harry Potter movie coming out next week. Yes people, The Goblet of Fire will finally open next Wednesday and I CANNOT WAIT! Tomorrow, we're already buying tickets to watch the movie on its first day. I am so excited!!!

There Is No Excuse For Betrayal

"There are worse things than Insomnia. Betrayal, for instance. Especially if the one doing the betraying is someone you love" - from the book Insomnia by Stephen King

I sure wish I didn't trust people too much.

I used to be a good judge of character. I could normally recognize someone's character and personality with just one look. Sometimes even from a picture or a video. Mario even commented about my uncanny ability before. I never missed.

But lately, I have been wrong. Most of the time.

I wish I can stop being too trusting. And I wish people would just stop betraying me. Coz it sucks big time.

Shopping Spree

This post is kinda long overdue. I just remembered to write about it now since it happened again during the weekend (but that's another story).***

Anyways, on November 1st, while everyone else was visiting their dead (or on vacation somewhere), I found myself driving to Quiapo. It was on a whim, really. C called the day before and asked if I wanted to go to Quiapo. Since I was bored and got nothing better to do, I told him I'd join. I've always wanted to buy all 7 seasons of Buffy on DVD anyways. And maybe Lost.

So there. I woke up early on Tuesday and after doing my usual round of errands these days, off to Quiapo we went.

I have been there several times before with Jon but due to my uncanny lack of directional skills, I couldn't remember the place he buys his DVDs from. You know me, I just let myself get dragged from this place and that. I guess I should have paid more attention to where we used to go.

Anyways, after trying so hard and eventually failing to look for the DVD place, we just settled for the vendors peddling their wares on the streets. The selection wasn't that wide and they didn't have any TV series (damn!). We still ended up buying a lot, though. And most of what we got were the 5-in-1 collections (I actually never knew those existed. Haha).

After that, we went to Divisoria (again unplanned) and I ended up buying clothes. Wahaha. I seriously ought to stop spending too much now that I am unemployed. But I just couldn't help it! There were bargains everywhere! And it was much more fun shopping in Divisoria than in Greenhills for some reason. I can't exactly say why. It just is.

Mental note to self: Return to Divisoria one of these days.

***Coming in next post.

Exit Sandman

I haven't had a decent night's sleep since Friday last week. You see, it seems that the Sandman has quit coming to me at night and for one week straight, I've never slept earlier than 6am. Oooohh... and I wake up earlier than 9am, mind you. Which is really freaky because (1)that means I'm getting less than three hours of sleep a day and (2)I'm waking up earlier than when I had work!

Since I haven't been sleeping, I got to finish the following on DVD: a whole season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Wedding Planner, Dude Where's My Car?, The Boss' Daughter and The Wedding Date. I think I gotta get a new pair of correction glasses from watching all those things straight. My eyesight has gotten worse, I think. And I always have a migraine.

But then again, I feel happier this way.

Or maybe I'm just saying that because it's only been a week.

Maybe after a couple more days, I'd be begging the Sandman to come knocking at my door.

Oh well... whatever.

O.P.M. >>> Oh Promise Me

Why do people make promises they can't keep? Is it because they really can't or just don't want to?

Someone once told me that in everything we do, we have a choice. And this is the same person repeatedly breaking promises made to me. So does that mean that this person just really CHOOSES to break 'em promises?

If you knew you can't keep a promise, why make it in the first place?
